Reddit files High Court challenge to the teen social media ban

While complying with the law, the popular tech platform will argue the teen social media ban is unconstitutional and that Reddit does not fit its definition of a social media platform.

Reddit has filed a High Court challenge to the teen social media ban, contending that the law is unconstitutional and that its platform has been wrongly included.

Just a day before the teen social media ban deadline this week, Reddit confirmed that it would comply with the law and take steps to stop Australians under the age of 16 from having accounts on its platform.

Meanwhile, a Reddit spokesperson did not deny an Australian Financial Review report that the company was preparing to challenge the ban in court.
