Your First Reddit Post: A Safe Template (That Fits Most Subreddits)
Use this structure to avoid removals and get better replies. Then adapt it to each subreddit’s rules and flair.
TL;DR: Title = specific + honest → first lines = context → body = question + constraints → end = “what I tried”.
Before posting: check rules + flair requirements using
Posting Rules & Flair Checklist.
Copy/Paste Post Template
Title: [Specific outcome] — [your situation] (Looking for advice) Context (2–3 lines): - Who/what this is about - What you want to achieve - Why it matters / constraints (budget, time, tools) Question: 1) What is the best next step? 2) What should I avoid? 3) If you had to choose ONE option, which one? What I tried (optional): - I tried X, got Y result - I’m stuck because Z Extra details (optional): - Relevant numbers, screenshots, links (only if allowed)
Title Examples (Better vs Worse)
- Better: “How to choose a subreddit for X? (3 options, which fits?)”
- Worse: “Help pls” / “Any advice?”
- Better: “Post removed twice — what rule am I missing?”
- Worse: “Reddit is broken”
