Popular streaming platform Twitch will restrict access to children under 16 as part of Australia’s teen social media ban, after the Amazon-owned service confirmed that it would comply with its last-minute inclusion in the government’s legislation.
A spokesperson for Twitch told Crikey that it was planning on complying with the government’s social media minimum age by stopping users under 16 from creating accounts in Australia from the ban’s start date on December 10.
But existing Twitch users under 16 won’t be kicked off the platform until January 9, a month after the ban comes into effect.
